Pat Henderson Sr., 73, of Luzerne

Patrick Allan Henderson SR, 73, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, within the comfort of his home with his wife Gina, and little buddy Jack in Luzerne, Michigan.

Pat was born June 27th, 1950, in Sault Ste Marie, MI to Bernard and Florence Henderson. Spending the earlier part of his life in the UP, Pat attended Bruce Township and Pickford High schools. Later, Pat became a herdsman around Michigan, known to have chased cattle in the pasture with a 1970 Nova! He was a true country boy who loved working on farms, tending to the cows, horses, chickens, and rabbits. He enjoyed watching horse pulls and attending county fairs including Pickford Hay Days, county auctions and good ol’ Amish baking. He was truly a hardworking man until the very end.

When Pat reached his late 30s, he made the decision to join AA and as a result became one of the organization’s biggest local advocates. We are so very proud of his 35+ years of sobriety! He received many medallions for his service, recently receiving his 38 year coin. His family called his car “The Henderson Taxi” because he loved picking up friends and heading to AA in all towns and counties. He put on more miles in a week than most of us do in 6 months! Pat was a man who truly gave with all he had and then some. He had a very evident hand in helping improve the lives of many. He either helped them onto a better path, in AA or just helped a fellow man with a few bucks he didn’t really have or offered them a ride. If Pat saw a need he could help fulfill, he was going to do it.

Pat taught his sons how to live through hard work and grit. They worked the farms together and know the value of a hard work day. Both men he raised can raise cows, live off the land and pick the best meat in the grocery store. Along with all things farming Pat loved fishing, sweets, and flea markets but his true passion later in life became AA. He enjoyed lunch with AA members and friends at the Paddle Inn. Pat may not have had much but what he did have he treasured and treated like gold but was always willing to go without so others would have what they needed. Pat’s best saying was “it doesn’t matter where I go after I pass away, I will have a family reunion whether I go north or south”.
Pat is survived by his wife, Gina Henderson, Sisters Loretta (Everett) Lines and Lois (Bruce) Willard. His sons, Pat Jr and Robert (Tanya) Henderson. Grandchildren; Alexis (Dan), Charlie, Jake, Nick and Tiara.

Preceded in death by his two brothers, Michael (Hazel) Henderson and James (Sally) Henderson and two sisters, Iris (John) Lehigh & Corrine Henderson and his wife Barb.

Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio.
