Donald Maul, 95, of West Branch

Donald Elmer Maul, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center Midland. He was born on October 22, 1928, in Detroit, MI, to Emil and Elsie (Voland) Maul. He lived in West Branch, MI since 1968.

Donald served in the Army, joining in 1947 and bravely serving in the Korean War. He retired from the Army in 1967.

After his military service, Donald had a successful career working for Ogemaw Telephone Company and West Branch Industries until his retirement in the 1990s. He was also a proud member of the K of C Council #2022.

In his free time, Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cutting firewood until he was 90 years old. He also enjoyed reading, bowling for Ken’s Barber Shop, being outdoors, traveling, and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. He was a devoted family man and took his kids camping and spending time with his wife.

Donald is survived by his loving children Donald (Becky) Maul, Diane (Dan) Byrne, Carl (Erin) Maul, David (Kim) Maul, and Richard Maul. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Audrey, who passed away in 2006.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with veteran honors. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Rea Family Animal Shelter (formerly Ogemaw County Humane Society).
