Allen Schweizer, 89, of Houghton Lake

Allen Francis Schweizer, 89, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2023 at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

Allen was born on March 20, 1934 in Farmington, Michigan to Walter and Eva (Maxian) Schweizer. He grew up in the Farmington and Livonia area, graduating from Clarenceville High School. As a young man he participated in many sports and this led to him being an avid Lions and Tigers fan.  He was married to Linda Rose on September 15, 1962. Linda died in 2018. Allen worked as a Budget Administrator for Ford Motor Company for 30 years before retiring. But, he had a second career that he loved, as a Pastor for the United Methodist Church.  He spent more years as a Pastor than he had spent at Ford Motor Company.  He traveled to serve at many churches throughout the state of Michigan.  Allen and Linda, with their 3 daughters vacationed in the Houghton Lake area for many years.  He had spent the last three years in Houghton Lake moving here from Grand Blanc to be with his daughter Ellen, and her husband Pastor Kevin Harbin, of the Houghton Lake Global Methodist Church. If you ever met Allen you would never forget his affectionate greeting of “Happy Easter”. Jesus was his everything. He continued teaching about Jesus up until the final week of his life.

Surviving Mr. Schweizer are his three married daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial Services for Pastor Allen will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday December 2, 2023 from Houghton Lake Global Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating.  Gathering time will be held on Saturday from 12:00pm until the time of the service.   Memorial contributions in memory of Allen are asked to be directed to the E.
