James Salmon, 85, of Roscommon

James Richard Salmon, age 85, of Roscommon, died on Monday, August 14, 2023, in Traverse City, Michigan.

James was born July 20, 1938, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Circuit Judge Marvin and Donnah (Heeg) Salmon.

James enjoyed playing golf and was pretty good at it. He had the best sense of humor and always had the ability to make light of any situation by making others laugh. James was a country line dancer and he and Jan had taught it in Florida. James and Faye were snowbirds and enjoyed travelling between Winter Haven, Florida and Higgins Lake, Michigan. He loved spending time on Higgins Lake in all its forms with his children and grandchildren. James family will always remember folks mentioning how much of a remarkable man he truly was.

James will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his son, Jay (Sheila) Salmon of Shepherd, Michigan; his beloved life-partner, Faye Somero of Roscommon, Michigan; grandchildren: Courtney (Jose) Velasquez of St. Louis, Michigan, Kirstin Hadanek of Shepherd, Michigan, Tarryn (Paul) Crum of Holt, Michigan, Levi Salmon of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; great-grandchildren: Cristina, Josephine, Rowan, Blaire; as well as several cousins, and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janice Jean (Thornton) Salmon.

James’ family has chosen to remember him privately at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
