Richard Anthony Borczyk, 87, of Prudenville passed away on Wednesday July 15, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side.

Richard was born on December 11, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony and Pauline (Tomaszewski) Borczyk. He grew up in the Detroit area where he graduated from Chadsay High School. Richard then served as a Sgt(T) in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a tally man for Great Lakes Steel Company before serving in the Army and went back to Great Lakes Steel following his service time and retiring as a heater operator in 1988. Richard was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles, Houghton Lake Moose, Life Member of the AmVets where he was the Secretary Adjutant for 6 years in Detroit. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and telling a good joke. Richard was always passionate about helping people, taking care of his family, and spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. Borczyk are his two sisters; Lorraine McDonald of Florida and Delphine Zalewski of Westland; three nieces, Debbie(Craig) Berry, Kim(Bob) Molloy, and Cheryl(Jim) Bruestle; five nephews, Donald(Ann) Tomasek, Robert Tomasek, Gerald(Dawn) Tomasek, John Tomasek, and Gary(Cindy) Zalewski. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Eleanor Josephine Fairchild and Helen "Sharon" Tomasek; brother, John Borczyk; and nephew, Leon Zalewski.

Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Anthony Borczyk will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday July 24, 2020 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Eke officiating. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday July 24, 2020 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard are asked to be directed to Heartland Hospice of West Branch. Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
