Joyce S. Lamb, age 89, of Roscommon, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in Roscommon, Michigan.

Joyce was born Friday, June 6, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan, the youngest of three children born to Lawrence and Hazel (Duffett) Shaw. Her brother William was a pilot who died in combat in World War II. Her sister Jeanne also predeceased her.

Joyce grew up in Saginaw and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. She then attended nursing school at Rush Medical Center in Chicago and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse. She married James Lamb in 1952 who was a naval aviator at the time. They were stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas and Norfolk, Virginia during Jim’s duty with the Navy.

While Jim attended Dental School at the University of Michigan Joyce worked as an R.N. at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor. After Jim graduated the family returned to Saginaw where Jim established his dental practice.

Joyce was active in the Junior League and other volunteer organizations. She loved to play tennis, golf and bridge, and was an avid skier when raising her young family. Joyce spent her summers with the family at their cottage on Higgins Lake.                      

Joyce will be greatly missed by family and friends.  She is survived by her children Michael Lamb, Katherine Lamb (Michael Bogren) and William Lamb (Nancy), and four grandchildren, James and Ben Lamb and Rebecca and Charles Bogren.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband James Lamb and her son Steven Lamb.

Joyce’s family has chosen to hold a private burial service.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Joyce’s name to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo and the Junior League of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
