Edward John Furstenau, Jr., age 87, of Roscommon, died on Saturday, July 18, 2020, in Grayling, Michigan.

Ed was born June 29, 1933 in Richmond, Michigan, the son of Edward and Helen (Wybraniec) Furstenau.  He was raised in Richmond on the family dairy farm.

Ed married Donna Sutton on September 5, 1953, at the Columbus Baptist Church in Columbus, Michigan.  In 1971, he and Donna and the children moved to Roscommon and Ed worked as an electrician until he retired.  Ed was the owner and operator of Furstenau Electric and Insulation for forty years.  He was the co-owner of the Donut Hole as well as Impact Office Products.  Ed enjoyed going golfing.  He was a longtime member of the Roscommon Rotary Club, having been the President from 1985 to 1986.  He was also recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.  Ed will be remembered for being the umpire for many years of little league and high school baseball.          

Ed will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his children: Douglas (Shirley) Furstenau of Johnstown, Colorado, David Furstenau of Grayling, Michael (Alice) Furstenau of Grayling, Lisa (Randy) Baerlocher of Roscommon, Edward Furstenau III of Bentley, grandchildren: Michelle (Ken), Gregory (the late, Crystal), Kylene (Justin), Alanda, Max, Ariel, Jason (Desiree), Katie, 11 great-grandchildren; brother William (Lora) Furstenau; sister Carolyn (Peter) Facione; sister-in-law Joy Blumer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Donna of 66 years and grandson Josh.

            Family and friends will gather from 1:00-3:00 PM on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Ed’s name to the Roscommon Rotary Club.
