Charles “Chuck” Peterson, age 84, of Roscommon, died on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Traverse City, Michigan in the presence and comfort of his family.

Chuck was born June 3, 1934 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Harry and Valinda (Kremkow) Peterson. He married Lula B. Witt on May 18, 1991, in Dearborn. Chuck’s family remembers him primarily as a collector, with many coins, license plates, model trains and planes, with many first responder patches to his name. He also enjoyed woodworking and tending to his flowers.  He spent many years as a baseball coach and a Cub and Boy Scout leader. Above all, he was a proud member of the Roscommon Republican Party, and loved to spend time with his family and his church.

           

Chuck will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lula of Roscommon; his children: Charles Peterson, Jr., Valinda Peterson, Kevin Peterson, and Laura (Estepp) Peterson; step-children: Sherry Hester, Tammy O’Connor, Lisa Floyd, James Witt; his grandchildren: Rob, Kayla, Noah, Zach, Laura, Hailey, Lindsey, and Samuel; his sister Arlene Schmidt; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his first wife Nancy; and his siblings: Ruth, Leona, Harry, and Harold.

Family and friends gathered at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan  48653, on Thursday, January 24, from 5 to 8 P.M.  A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 2794 West Maplehurst Drive, Roscommon, Michigan  48653, on Friday, January 25, at 11 A.M., with Dr. Dave Hansen officiating.

Chuck will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan.
