SLEEPING BEAR DUNES - Beach wheelchairs, designed to safely provide wheelchair users easier access to the beach, are available for use—free of charge at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore with a Park Pass.

An adult and child’s chair is available at the Cannery at Glen Haven and an adult chair is available at the Maritime Museum. Both areas have ramped beach access. A user needs a support person to ambulate the chair.

More than 400 people commented on the park's social media pages:

Janice Hinds said, "Super idea ! Thank you to the people who have made this possible."

Laura Hosler said, "This is such an awesome amenity! Thank you so much for all of the accessible improvements the last couple of years!"

Check in with a volunteer at the Cannery or Maritime Museum if you or someone you know is interested.
