MANISTEE COUNTY -  On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at approximately 10:29 a.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post was flagged down while on M-22 Highway near Arcadia Lake. A man stated his brother, who had been fishing, was now missing. While on scene, the trooper and man observed what was later determined to be the man’s brother, 74-year-old John Joseph Miller from Arcadia, unresponsive, floating in Arcadia Lake, approximately 75 yards from shore. Arcadia Township Fire Rescue responded to the scene and with the help of a local resident with a boat, they brought the unresponsive man back to shore.

CPR was conducted by Arcadia Fire Rescue without success. The investigation is on-going, but at this time it appears Miller fell in the creek and drown. The case remains open pending an autopsy. The MSP was assisted by the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Arcadia Fire/Rescue, and North Flight EMS.
