ROSCOMMON - Roscommon Post #96 of The Michigan American Legion is getting ready for the National Day of Remembrance with Wreaths Across America which is being celebrated this year on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Gerrish Township Cemetery at 11 a.m. A short ceremony will be conducted prior to the placing of the wreaths.

Through the effort of the Post, they have 245 wreaths (approximately) to be placed on headstones of fallen veterans at five different local cemeteries and they are looking for volunteers to assist. Contact Kevin Sherman at 989-370-6770 if you would like to help remember, honor and to place remembrance wreaths on the headstones of all the local heroes laid to rest, to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country never be forgotten and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration.

The mission of Wreaths Across America Day is to Remember, Honor, and Teach.

Volunteers will meet at the VFW Post #4159/Roscommon Post #96 hall (across from the Post Office) at 10 a.m.

This ceremony and community service project will proceed regardless of Michigan’s winter weather, dress warm or for the occasion.
