ROSCOMMON - The 10th Annual Wine & Craft Beer Tasting hosted by the Friends of the Roscommon Area District Library (RADL) will be held on

Sunday, Feb. 16 from 3-6 p.m. at the R.A. MacMullan (RAM) Conference Center.

The RAM Center is located on North Higgins Lake Drive at 104 Conservation Dr. Last pour will be at 5:30. The event has grown in 10 years, chaired multiple times by Sue Glover, Susan Horvat or Ruth Mutchler.

In 2011, the event occupied one room at the RAM Center where 20 volunteers served eight wines and a Chocovine to more than 160 attendees. Six door prizes were awarded.

Over the years the wine selections have grown in number, featuring wines from all over the world. Chocolates, coffee, tea and pop were added along the way.

In 2016, the event officially became the Wine & Craft Beer Tasting when craft beer selections were added and increased each year. The light hors d’oeuvres of the beginning years by local caterer Suzi De Haan were expanded by StreamSide Restaurant and again by Fred’s of Roscommon.

Door prizes are now awarded all afternoon and the popular themed baskets available for winning have grown to 25 or more. Now occupying the entire RAM Center log lodge, the 2019 event had 40 volunteers hosting 244 guests.

This year, at least 10 wines and multiple craft beers, selected by John Bennick of Fifth Street Wines & Market in Roscommon, will be available for sampling.

Delicious warm and cold hors d’oeuvres, prepared by Fred’s of Roscommon and chocolates will be served along with coffee, tea and pop. Again, by popular demand, guests may purchase chances to win themed baskets. Orders will also be taken for wines, at discounted prices. Credit cards accepted.

Tickets are $25 ($30 at door) and available at RADL, Lyon Township Branch Library and Fifth Street Wines & Market. Purchasers need to be 21 or older. Payment for tickets by cash or check is accepted.

The Friends of RADL exists raise funds to support the library. Last year the Friends provided over $5,000 towards the library’s programs and services for all ages. For more information, please call the library at 989-281-1305 or email friendsofradl@gmail.com.
