Mock Interviews for Mio AuSable Senior Class

November 12 –  With assistance from Michigan Works!, Mio AuSable Schools held Mock Interviews with 35 senior students. The students prepared for the interviews by completing their resumes, reference lists and reference letters. Their teacher, Mrs. Thiel gave them pointers on proper dress, the importance of a firm handshake and how to present themselves confidently prior to meeting with the employers.
After each interview, employers completed an evaluation form on each student as to how they did. Several of the students scored near perfect results! Overall, the feedback from participating employers was very positive and all of them are in support of future mock interviews to help students prepare for their futures. Many employers commented on how prepared the students were. And they thought these types of exercises were necessary to help get students comfortable speaking with professionals about employment and skills needed in a variety of industries. They also felt mock interviews help build self-confidence.
